More of an 80’s theme to this month’s podcast than usual.

We kick off with the Patrick Adam’s produced Evening of Love from a later Main Ingredient album, this has recently been reissued on a 7” in an edited form by Expansions but you really need the full LP version. The Rosslyn and Charles gospel track also sounds like it’s been touched by the hand of P+P records with it’s squelchy spacy synth sounds.
We’ve selected some 80’s boogie/ disco with the rare Ray Parker and Colors tracks and the Gemini LP track It’s Friday Night which breaks down into a bass driven monster towards the end.
You know that we love our Philly soul, well The Masters at Work Dub of Nu Colours borrows heavily from the Intruders: I Always Love My Mama. The Jovonn track is an underplayed gem from about 10 years ago which cites his influences all through the history of house music from the Paradise garage through to Zanzibar, deep, moody, jazzy house just how we like it.
Elsewher we’ve a slice of afro-disco from Malinga Five and a slice of Northern Soul from the Dynamics, a track I first heard on Sir Matthew Fox’s excellent podcast on podomatic.

Last but by far least is Love Has Come To Me; if this song was on an obscure independent label by a long forgotten group it would be worth a million dollars, luckily for us it’s on a major label by a group that hit the UK top 5, it’s so good it’ll make you cry
